Fan and QP made excellent use of Balboa Park for their wedding day. A first look and poses were done at the Organ Pavilion before we meandered over to the Botanical Building for the ceremony. Cocktail hour was held on the lawn in front of the Timkin Art Museum, and a fun reception took place at the Museum of Photographic Arts. What a great day!
Balboa Park has a myriad of fantastic spots for weddings and receptions. Here are some words from their website:
The majestic beauty of Balboa Park offers a lovely setting for destination weddings, corporate functions and other events. There are countless venues–inside and outdoor–for unique gatherings of all sizes. Balboa Park is one of the most popular locations in Southern California for weddings, holiday parties, and other events. Find picturesque terraces, lush garden settings, and elegant ballrooms that can accommodate groups of various sizes. Balboa Park is a City Park and the structures, grounds, and landscaping are managed and maintained by the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department. Therefore, the Park and Recreation Department rents/provides permits for the beautiful gardens and outside space, as well as several of the Park buildings. All outdoor areas are under the management of the Park and Recreation Department. The Balboa Park cultural organizations schedule most events individually, and each organization governs the usage of its own buildings. Each museum has its own experienced Special Events Manager available for consultation. You may wish to visit several venues before determining the ideal location for your event. We recommend that you explore the Venue page, click on any location of interest, and find the contact information for that venue to set up an appointment.
